Ryan Moody’s fishing journey began on the reef boats, chasing bucket-list marlin for legends like champion angler Johnno Johnson, INXS, and even the King of Sweden.
In the late ‘80s, Ryan pivoted to guided barramundi fishing, earning his reputation as a Big Barramundi specialist, helping clients land over 2,000 metre-plus barra to date.
With 30 years of daily experience interpreting fish finders in waters ranging from 2 to 400 metres deep, Ryan has honed an extraordinary ability to locate trophy fish. Known as “the fish whisperer,” he’s amazed anglers with his knack for identifying species and sizes before the fish are even landed.
As attitudes shift from “keep all you can” to catch-and-release, Ryan has chosen to share his hard-earned knowledge through Fish Smarter Fishing Courses, created alongside his marine biologist wife, Karen. Their courses focus on fishing with strategy, not luck, offering easy-to-follow lessons designed to help anglers of all skill levels fish smarter, not harder.
