Sunscreen, but better in every way!
Introducing ‘We Are Feel Good Inc’
In our recent article ‘Save Our Oceans’ we touched on the toxic compounds Oxybenzone and Octinoxate which are found in common sunscreens. These two chemicals can have detrimental effects in our oceans, particularly for coral reefs. The two chemicals have been banned entirely from use in Hawaii and Florida, amongst other locations globally. Unfortunately in Australia and New Zealand these chemicals are still found in most conventional sunscreens, so whilst you may be trying to protect yourself from the suns damaging rays, you could simultaneously be harming our oceans. After digging deeper into this issue we set out to find a sunscreen which better aligns with Pantaenius’ values.
After some research, as well as a bit of trial and error, Pantaenius has found the perfect range of sun products that tick all the boxes. Back in 2015 in Dunsborough, Western Australia, three couples (including a skin cancer doctor and a professional surfer) noticed that there was a serious lack in sunscreens available which suited their active lifestyles. Subsequently, ‘We Are Feel Good Inc’ came to life, a range of sunscreen products which nourish the skin and protect from the harsh Australian sun, all whilst remaining environmentally accountable. Their vision is to become the world’s most trusted sun care brand, with their product integrity and intelligent formulas paving the way to achieving this goal!
The Pantaenius team tested out a number of different environmentally conscious sunscreen brands, with ‘We Are Feel Good Inc’ coming out on top by a mile and for a number of reasons. Firstly, their products are all free from Parabens, PABA, Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. The company consistently stays up to date with scientific research released regarding any potentially damaging chemicals found in sun and personal care products, they always ensure their range complies. Further, their sunscreen products perform as both a broad-spectrum sunscreen whilst also containing anti-inflammatory and antioxidants rich ingredients to soothe the skin, combat existing sun damage and protect against future UV damage. They’re also non-greasy and do not leave the typical white cast that traditional, high protection sunscreens leave- this really won over the ladies in our office!
On top of all of the above, ‘We Are Feel Good Inc’ has joined forces with Precious Plastic Margaret River and Precious Plastic Melbourne to recycle their bottles and lids to manufacture combs. These combs are then bought back from Precious Plastic which helps fund their not-for-profit recycling program. Unfortunately, in Australia any cosmetic or therapeutic goods must be packaged in glass, aluminium or 'food-grade’ virgin plastic. Whilst the company is examining avenues for an alternative to the food- grade plastic packaging, for now they are doing the best they can with what they are required to use.
