Claim Description
On the evening of July 6th, while en route to the Gold Coast near Moreton Island, we encountered unexpected challenges. Despite clear weather earlier, a sudden storm hit around 11:30 pm, bringing swells of approximately 4.5 meters.
Over the next few hours, we struggled against the rough seas, attempting to reach Moreton Bay and even considering a return to Mooloolaba. Around 2:00 am on July 7th, our Seadoo Jetski, securely strapped on the flybridge, was dislodged by the intense waves. It fell onto our tender on the duckboard and eventually into the ocean.
This incident caused visible damage to our vessel, including a cracked transom storage box and harm to the duckboard and sponsons, including fiberglass and a stainless steel belt.
The night's events highlight the unpredictability of the sea, emphasizing the need for caution even in calm forecasts.
Claims Handling
A few days following the incident, we were notified by the insured. They shared a written summary of the event along with photos and two repair quotations. Pantaenius promptly initiated the claims handling process, approved the quote, and facilitated the vessel's repair. The claim was successfully settled and closed within two months. It was a delightful experience working with the vessel's owner throughout the process.
