On-board batteries
In order to retain functionality, on-board electrical components must also be maintained during winter storage. The on-board batteries should be disconnected when charged wherever possible, so that no leakage current or silent consumers can discharge the batteries. The cables and pole terminals should be checked too and replaced if necessary. The poles should also be cleaned and lubricated. If possible, the batteries should be stored in a dry place, away from frost. The batteries should be charged at least once a month if possible.
DANGER OF FROST FOR WATER-BEARING FITTINGS
Water tanks and pipes on board sailing and motor yachts must always be emptied during winter storage in order to prevent the pipes and valves from freezing and bursting. We also advise you to pour some antifreeze into them (use food grade option for freshwater circuits) and pump it through the circuit to prevent the remaining water from freezing. Watermakers and water boilers must also be emptied. These devices should come with special emptying pumps. If not, they should be helped along with antifreeze.
Disconnect batteries when charged!
