Pantaenius UK Limited and Marine Claims Service Limited are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office in the United Kingdom, and are authorised to hold and process personal data in connection with your insurance requirements.  

What personal information do we collect?

  • Your personal data (any information which identifies you, or which can be identified as relating to you) for example, names and titles, addresses, date of birth, contact details including phone numbers and email address, financial details such as direct debit, bank account or credit/debit card details and other information we may require including details of your vessel and yourself, for example, sailing experience and qualifications.
  • Photographs (to help us manage policies and assess claims) 
  • Special categories of personal data (sensitive data) which may include, but is not limited to, previous claims information, medical history and criminal record information.
  • Account login details 
  • Details of joint policyholders or policy beneficiaries: When providing information about others you confirm that you have the consent of these individuals to supply their personal information.
  • Details of third party claimants

  • To administer your policy and process the payment of premium and claims.

We would like to keep you informed about products and services that we believe will be of interest to you.  Where consent has been given, we will contact you from time to time by telephone, post, email, SMS to keep you informed with news, products and services including but not limited to boat insurance together with carefully selected offers or promotions which we feel may be of interest to you. We may also contact you to undertake consumer research via an online survey. There is no obligation for you to partake in any consumer research and we will inform you, at the time, as to the intended use of this information.  You have the right at any time to stop us contacting you for marketing purposes. How long may we keep your personal information for?

Data will not be retained for longer than is necessary. We will retain your personal information for the duration of our business relationship and afterwards for as long as is necessary and relevant for our legitimate business purposes, or as otherwise required by law or regulation. Where we no longer need your personal information we will dispose of it in a secure manner, without future notice to you.

If necessary for the preparation or administration of an insurance policy or the settlement of a claim, we may transfer your data to countries outside the EEA to Pantaenius branch offices/subsidiaries or in relation to a claim, to country(s) where the damage occurred or where settlement is due.

Security and storage of information

Data we hold is stored as digital data. Digital data are stored in digital files, emails and within secure databases on our secure, private networks. The networks are protected from outside by modern security systems and multiple layered firewalls. Data are secured, within our organisation, by security policy, and appropriate access is provided to users based on required tasks related to job roles. The digital systems are also supported by a business continuity replica system, securely held within our own private premises, and which is updated and tested regularly. 

MAD (Plymouth) Limited and Marine Building

MAD (Plymouth) Limited own Marine Building. MAD (Plymouth) Limited are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office in the United Kingdom, and are authorised to hold and process personal data in relation to facilities management in connection with the leaseholders and tenants of Marine Building.

MAD (Plymouth) Limited monitors and records movement on the approaches to and within Marine Building for the purposes of crime prevention and public safety. Events monitored include people and vehicles arriving and leaving the premises, and a constant watch over the company cars. The recorded footage is viewed by MAD (Plymouth) Limited designated staff for the above purposes only. The recorded footage is retained for up to 30 days, after which it is securely deleted.  MAD (Plymouth) Limited will not pass on recorded footage to any third party, except for the police. Audio information is not recorded by the CCTV system.
